Title: halting interior fan
Post by 24v96wagon on Sep 22nd, 2005, 1:42pm
The interior fan on a 95 24V ghia is halting every now and then. Sometimes it works perfect, other times it stalls for a few moments, then it restarts again. pls advise.

Have a complete 96 24v wagon available for parts in Belgium. Has done > 380.000 km on first engine, gearbox, etc.

Hi 24v96wagon,

Welcome to the site.

Does your Scorpio have climate control (LCD's on each side) or does it just have regular AC with the 3 control knobs on the dash? If its climate control this could be one of two things. First of all, when the fans come on and go off do the LCD displays flicker between the temperature value and the off symbol (--)? If so you have a faulty climate control panel. Its normally the dial with the AUTO and fan speed control that goes bad. If the displays continue to show the temperature value when the fans come on and go off, you need to replace your HBC (Heater Blower Control) module. Have a read of this page http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/hbctest.htm.

Let us know the outcome.

Kind Regards

Hi 24v etc
Had a similar problem on my 1997 24v Estate/Wagon
Have just replaced the HBC today and all is ok.
Check the fault code and it will tell you if the HBC is causing the problem..
