Title: 2.3 Misfire Post by paulscorp on Oct 1st, 2005, 12:54pm Hi guys, well i have just cleaned the MAF and ICV which were both a little sooty and blackened, all nice and shiny again now but hasn't made the slightest difference to the misfire. Its not even a regular misfire just misses a beat now and then. Also if i rev the engine to about 2000rpm and let off, then when its almost idled i give it some hard throttle it all but dies and once even stalled - related? I've just given it a service (plugs oil etc etc) as i thought it would help. Not long had new coil packs so these should be ok and the leads and wiring look good too. Could it be lambda sensor? So, 2 lifelines gone, now its ask the audience :D any help/ideas appreciated regards Paul |

Title: Re: 2.3 Misfire Post by admin on Oct 1st, 2005, 5:06pm Sounds also like a possible air leak - have you used an OBD2 scan on it? Check all the vacuum lines for leaks - get a cheap stethoscope as they are a great way to detect leaks and strange noises. |

As for stethoscope i'm not sure i'd know where to start and what to be listening for regards Paul |

Title: Re: 2.3 Misfire Post by scorpio_man on Oct 8th, 2005, 1:30pm hi paul any luck on your misfire? just another couple of things to check. plug gaps need to be spot on....1.0mm exhaust manifold for cracks. see http://www.anyboard.net/autos/cars/scorpio/posts/21.html hth |

Title: Re: 2.3 Misfire Post by paulscorp on Oct 8th, 2005, 1:36pm hi thanks for additional info, no still no luck with misfire, lining up to do the rewire on loom this weekend. Its funny you should mention exhaust manifold, because although i dont think its cracked i do seem to have a small blow near to the manifold of immediately after the cat. Also, recently changed the plugs but wasn't maticulous about the gap, didn't realise the scorps were that fussy lol, so i guess i better sort both of those before i go any further regards Paul |
