Done the lot! Fuel cut off, cleaned it (remote) inside and out, new batteries, played with the sticky up things and all the contacts, offered it Chelsea season ticket, re-re-re programmed it, and it's still as inconsistent as an England performance. Added to that, the boot release which ALWAYS worked regardless has done an Ashley Cole and gone awol.

It has more of a mind of it's own than even my 11 year old gothdaughter, and now I find that I can't unlock the door from the drivers side!!

Down to one fingernail, having blipped the car and tried to open the still locked door!

Thinking of writing a book about this now!!

Anyway, being serious for a mo, I've done all that's recommended on the forum. Am I now looking at the great ebay remote hunt?

Also, can you point me in the direction to replace the drivers side door barrel too

Love the car - when I can get in the ... thing! :-)

keith..

dont know if this will help,but i can remember quite a while ago some guy was having trobles with his remote as well,the reply came back as to try to clean all possible contacts with an eraser (apparently cleans them a treat,and refreshes the contactc).....

as your at this point guess you may as well try this as well........
good luck,and hope things improve ;) (and i know you have said you have tried it),but making a good contact with the "sticky up thing" as you say makes a big difference as well if you get it right

Whoppeee!

Did the eraser thing and now its working perfectlly!! Thanks for that suggestion.

Will replace the drivers door barrel though in next few weeks though to be on the safe side

I too tried the eraser trick as my remote was getting reluctant to lock the doors with less than 10 attempts plus lots of foul language. Amazingly it does work, and I can now frighten old ladies in Tesco's car park by flipping the boot lid up from 30 yards away.

Just to add my experience.....

Super glue a piece of ordinary kitchen foil onto the rubber contacts....worked a treat for mine.......I got to the stage of thinking the remote was totally useless, but now is as good as new ;D
