hi got 2.5 tdi temp gauge has stopped working correctly it only just gose up over the blue put new thermostat still no joy have read about the soldering job on the back. But it says both petrol & temp gauge dose any one know if that is at the same time  or on their own. thanks  ???

Hi dawg. I had a similar problem I think. With your electrics on, press and hold the trip distance plunger for about four seconds until it bleeps.. then by pressing it again, cycle through until it displays the engine temp. That engine temp and the analogue gauge on the dash seems to come from the same sender, which protrudes from the thermostat right at the front of the engine. You could try doing that with the engine warmed up, too, to check whether it gives a different reading.

Mine actually snapped, or was snapped, and was displaying a very high figure.. a new sender fixed it. Hopefully your problem is similarly simple!
