Title: idle problems - help needed
Post by OHC on Oct 21st, 2005, 9:35am
Please, help!

My car is 2.0 16v! I have an idle problems them the engine is hot. It usually appears after riding for a while on constant throttle. On releasing the throttle pedal the revs fall then rise when fall again. Sometimes the problem disappears then emerges again. Both HO2S new, MAF – new, IACV – new, spark plugs – new, one ignition coil – new (the previous replaced because of broken connector). Vacuum lines – OK!  Fuel cut-off loom – repaired with the insulation tape, though I think it can be a culprit. OBD scan – OK, except  EGR – insufficient gas flow.  I plugged the EGR vacuum hose with the bolt to eliminate its influence. That eased the symptoms but didn’t cure them at all.

Any ideas?

Best regards,
OHC

In my case 2.0 16V -95 there was a broken spark plug wire which comes from ignition coil ower cylinder 4, to cylinder 1 (the longest one)
You can check that with ohm-meter, both wires must give near same numbers. It was about 100 ohm, I remember.
That wire was 15 euro from Ford, first I tried with some other car's wire, and idle was OK.
Problem was poor idling and "jumping" with part throthle.
"The fuel cut of loom" was also VERY bad, but was not solution/reason for this.
