Title: Creep grind
Post by philerup on Oct 21st, 2005, 7:40pm
Hello Gents

A great site with many helping hands.

I was wondering if anyone may know how I can cure a bad case of 'creep grind'. The car is a 1998 2.3 facelift GhiaX estate with autobox and its done 105k

The noise seems to lessen once the engine is at working temp.

The noise always happens when comng to a stop when brakes are applied and then when brakes are released to continue.

I have recently changed rear discs and pads (fronts are still ok) but the noise seems to be from both front and rear although not always at the same time.

The noise was there before disc change but not as bad.

Also if I set gearbox to 'snowflake' the effect is dramatically reduced.

Do I need to look at suspension bushes?

Any help would assist this novice greatly as it spoiling the enjoyment of this otherwise fine car.

Thx
Phil

hi  and welcome

the (*) winter setting switches off 1st gear and makes the box change up sooner.

all i can think of is to check all the bushes for wear and check the operation of the brake calipers.
