Title: Key and fob stolen Post by bilcar on Oct 25th, 2005, 7:07am Somebody has stolen the key and fob for my 97 24v Cosworth. My problem is if I change the locks they could still open it with the fob. Any suggestions please |

Title: Re: Key and fob stolen Post by Daven on Oct 25th, 2005, 7:22am I was messing about with two remotes and two cars last week - I may be wrong but if you program another remote it will ignore the one that is stolen as the frequency will change! Dave |

That's not entirely true. The remote will still unlock the car once the battery is back on. I think Dave's idea of programming another remote to the car is the way forward. As he states, the code will change and the old one will then be no use. |

Title: Re: Key and fob stolen Post by bilcar on Oct 26th, 2005, 9:56pm Thanks everybody for your help. Your advice has been useful. I have a spare key fob and will try the suggestion of reprogramming it. I hope it works! The only thing is I won't be able to test whether the old one still works. I was wondering whether the radio signal from the fob could be switched off in the car so only the keys would work if I changed the locks on the doors. Turbo |
