Title: Cruise Control Not Working. Post by allenjames on Oct 27th, 2005, 3:30pm Picked up the new car today, only problem I found is the cruise control isnt working. 95 2.0 Ultima. The system switches on , light on dash comes on, but the speed wont set. The handbook mentions a green relay in the glovebox. I have a yellow relay, but no green one. Any ideas ? |

Title: Re: Cruise Control Not Working. Post by mr._floppy on Oct 27th, 2005, 3:48pm Have a gander in the engine bay, to the left of the radiators, covered by a plastic rain deflector, should be the CC motor. Check that the cable from it is attached to the throttle quadrant. It's impossible to see whether the CC system or the electric motor is working while the car is static, so it's a relay, fuse , switch and motor elimination game. Good Luck. |

Title: Re: Cruise Control Not Working. Post by allenjames on Oct 27th, 2005, 5:36pm The cable was disconnected from the throttle quad. After reconnecting, and a short drive, it didnt seem to work. The cable has a little slack , is this right ? |

Title: Re: Cruise Control Not Working. Post by Geoff_W on Oct 29th, 2005, 12:25pm In my case the cable was a bit slack and tended to pop off the quadrant end from time to time. New cable sorted that, clip at quadrant wears. However it sounds like you still may need to check relay and fuse. NOTE FOR Eric_R : This may end up as an addition for the Faults page. |

Title: Re: Cruise Control Not Working. Post by Simmo on Oct 29th, 2005, 8:51pm In the meantime you can solve that with a small cable tie fixed round the plastic connector at the throttle end. |

Title: Re: Cruise Control Not Working. Post by allenjames on Oct 29th, 2005, 9:07pm I did think of a temporary fix, but the clip looks like it needs to swivel, so I left it disconnected in case it jams in operation. |

Title: Re: Cruise Control Not Working. Post by Simmo on Oct 30th, 2005, 6:55am All you need to do is fix the cable tie so that it stops the plastic clip from 'jumping' of the peg. Mines been running like that for ages. |

Title: Re: Cruise Control Not Working. Post by Geoff_W on Nov 2nd, 2005, 12:23am Simmo, You have clearly got a better eye for cable ties than me. Andrew (scorpio_man) and I think Martin Rowe and myself fought that fight in my engine bay at Harewood Net result..... Cable ties 4 ;D Scorpio Owners nil >:( :'(. So I bit the new cable bullet no problems ever since. I guess another option would be to solder a piece of wire around the joint, that might be a fix. |
