Hi, I'm a new Scorpio owner (estate) and was wondering how I could fit a 3X3 point rear (centre) seat belt in the back. Surely it's not as simple as bolting a retractable 'unit' to the rear floor, making/fixing some sort of belt guide around the headrest for the shoulder part and then fixing the lap part to the existing anchor point? It doesn't have to be aethetically pleasing, I just want to keep the kids safe. Has anyone heard of this being carried out, or know of anyone that has done it before ? I would appreciate any comments/thoughts on this. Also, congratulations to all involved on an excellent website and forum. The amount of information, depth of knowledge and general friendlyness of all concerned, was the main reason I bought a Scorpio in the first place. Thanks again, John

hi and welcome

the third belt is built into the seat back on the '98 spec cars. you would need to change this, but they are very rare :(

you would actually need to do some cutting and welding to the rear parcel shelf as well,i know i looked into it as well and decided it's too much work....

The estate centre belt must be a simpler/easier modified design than the saloon though.

Any facelift estate guys out there that can show us the set up? :)

Craig, do you still have any info on what is required from when you looked at it?
i.e. where would you need to do the welding and what needed cutting?

Craigs is a saloon John, not an estate. Yours should be an easier fit being the estate

sorry john,mine is indeed a saloon,and it was too much work for me to think about doing,considering the only thing that uses the middle seat in my car is a little westie..... ;)
the estate i dont know too much about seat belt set-up wise anyway... ???.....

that's what i'm trying to say ;)
the estate's 3rd belt is fitted into the rear seat back. you need to change the seat back, which is very rare!!
