I towed a trailer today with my 95 Cosworth Ghia. After restarting, the instrument panel lights were down, together with all taillights, licence plate lights etc. All fuses seem to be correct. What could be the problem?

hi there

over heated the headlight switch and/or fuses blown. check all fuses as some overlap ;)

another thing to check.... do you have the trailer relay fitted? the one that lights up the dash.

Hi there. I checked all fuses, the brake lights and direction indicators work. The licenseplate lights and taillights are still dead. With the door open, the alarm chime does not sound. The trailer relay seems to be absent since the indicator on the instrument panel does not light.

did you check fuse #36?

or try the timer diagnostic check...http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/faultfinds.htm

hi there.

fuse 36 is ok. The front lights only burn when the ignition is switched on. Normally they keep burning when ignition is switched off, when the door is opened, the alarm chimes. ???

Hi there. I have interchanged the light switch with one from another scorpio. No result. Connector looks perfect. Do you have any idea?

examine the multiplug that the light switch goes into, more than likely, one of the contacts has burned, same happened to my scorp 6 months ago, it is possible to temporary repair it, but better to replace with another multiplug, which will obviously involve cutting and rejoining all wires.

.........or possibly a loose connection on the multiplug somewhere, check all is tight and secure.

Bingo. Contact nr. 15 on both the switch and the multiplug are damaged. By interchanging the switch, the multiplug still caused problems. ;D ;DSolved it with a small screwdriver and contact fluid. Thanks very much and, I am so happy to have my old cossy (385000 km, first engine, first gearbox etc.) around. All spares available, even on sundayevening.

Question: How do I connect the trailer plug so that this does not happen again. My old cossy has the trailer relay fitted, so I can use that. But, where do I find it?

Hello:
I solved the problem by mounting the light switch of my old scorp. The signal-light in the knob does not burn. Is there a possibility to renew this bulb?
