Title: Re: DESPERATE Post by Dave on Nov 28th, 2005, 1:32pm Hi, did it turn over normally or slowly? How long ago was it last used? What engine/gearbox is it? Did the dials "dance" on startup i.e. flick to max then back? Also, have a look here: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/faultfinds.htm Hope this helps :) |

Title: Re: DESPERATE Post by kskjon on Nov 28th, 2005, 1:39pm You could try to disconnect the neg. battery lead for about an hour, and try starting it afterwards. This helped with my 2.0 16V. Exact same symptoms. Edit: I probably experienced a PATS-problem, but the problem dissappeared after a while, so haven't been able to pin-point it yet. |

Title: Re: DESPERATE Post by Dave on Nov 28th, 2005, 1:47pm As kskjon says you could try disconnecting the battery negative lead, this can sort odd little episodes out. Also check the following (IMHO): Watch the PATS light (little red one at centre of dash, just below windscreen) - does it flash when you try to start the car? How old is the battery? Scorpios are very sensitive to getting the correct voltage - could always try jump starting it carefully. Have you had the battery out recently? There are a number of small leads that must be re-attached - often missed. Have you got the battery cover in place? When you turn the ignition on there should be a sort of quiet buzz from the back end fo a second, this is the fuel pump pressurising - can you hear this? Good luck |

Title: Re: DESPERATE Post by jumpyjazz on Nov 28th, 2005, 1:51pm the pat light comes on when you first get in like always the goes out. Put a new battery on when i got the car about 6 months ago never had it out since we got it will listen for the quiet buzz tonight. Hope it works as hubby wants me to get rid of the car and go back to a BMW but i am standing my ground so really need it fixed cheers for all the help |
