Title: Water Pump for 24v
Post by DJWerkz on Nov 30th, 2005, 7:14pm
Called one of the motor factors we use on a regular basis today with regard to getting a price on a new replacement water pump for my 24v.

The store checked their parts directory and they said that they only have one listed for the Cosworth and it covers engines up to a build date of August 1996.

Was the same water pump used on all BOB blocks post 95 vehicles or did they change at some point?

If I can use the one they list the price is £40.00 retail but then my brother-in-law gets trade discount off that price ;)

Seems logical to buy new rather than use a spare that I don't know how much more life is left in it.

Also, as I'v run a couple of V8 motors before and used companies like Summit Racing (in the USA), to source parts, I was able to buy a better than stock 'high-flow/volume' water pump.  Is there something similar for the 24v?  If the water pump used on the Cosworth is the same as pumps fitted to US supplied vehicles I would have though we could easily source an after market upgrade.

DJ I am guessing here but maybe they gave you the price for a MK3 one?
Did not think you could get a after market BOB pump.
Only the 24V BOB had it & nothing in the states as the engine never made it over there.

The MK 3 24V pump is the same as the 12V one so that maybe where the mix up is but the later one is different.
To be honest I am not even sure if you can get the gasket for it without buying the engine set.
