Title: Handbrake Cable
Post by 12reps on Dec 10th, 2005, 5:21pm
Hello everyone. I have been trying to remove the handbrake cable all afternoon to no avail. I removed the red locking pin. Then I tried to remove the first nylon locking nut, but could not. Is this nylon nut moulded to the handbrake cable or has it just siezed on to it.? What is the purpose of this adjustment mechanism? Merry Christmas to you all, Allan

Hi & welcome
The first nylon nut is the lock nut to stop the one behind turning.
Yes they both should turn but often need freeing up with WD40 etc.
You need to get the cable nice & slack before you can start undoing the clips.
The nylon nuts adjust the free play in the cable.
