Title: 1995 2.9 12V Auto Box
Post by thebladeissharpe on Dec 15th, 2005, 7:19pm
I have just purchased the car and have noticed that at 70mph the tacho reads almost 3,000rpm, is this the normal range or is top gear not being selected.  Many thanks Al.

The standard rpm for 70mph in 5th gear is 300rpm.
I used to drive a 2.9 with out the mph counter and just the rev and thats how I now this.
Regards...

Thanks Derek

Did you mean 300rpm or 3000rpm.  If it is 3000 it puts my mind at rest, Many thanks Al

Many thanks Snoopy, it's running at about 2,800/2,900rpm at 70mph so its not far off the norm.  I will do a gearbox oil change, at the same time I do the service.  Many thanks again.
Al
