Title: a quick electric window question... Post by pback on Dec 31st, 2005, 2:29pm Hello! Just a quick question. On my Scorpio (2,0 DOHC 8v, manual) -96, I've noticed that the buttons for the electric windows (the buttons are at the inside of the door) are always lit. Should not use very much battery, but is this the normal or should they go out when the car is not being used? |

Post by SaveTheNight on Jan 1st, 2006, 1:39pm Hi pback ..is it ONLY the door switches ? .. if the timer relay was playing up then there would be other stuff staying on ..so perhaps a door wire touching where it goes through the door post ..there are a couple of non ignition lives in the doors so it has to be one of those touching ..elimination I'm afraid ... keep us informed please .... cheers ...STN |

Post by pback on Jan 6th, 2006, 10:39am Yes, the batterycover is fitted, and no other electrical problems (and one of the fuseboxes are just a couple of months old). So, yes it's only the door switches, but I should also say that they are working (when the ignition is off), so it's not only the lights. The battery uses 110mA when the ignition is off, which is too much. When disconnecting the window motors the battery uses just 30mA. But everything seems fine when inspecting inside the doors. I'm looking for wiring diagrams, but all I find is http://www.carsoft.ru/avtorepair/sierra_el.html but I don't know if it's for the Scorpio, the link says 'sierra'. I don't know which relay to inspect.. suggestions? |

Title: Re: a quick electric window question... Post by pback on Jan 7th, 2006, 9:59am I've come to the conclusion that i allways have power to the fuse 26, which regulates the powerwindows. But I'm not certain wheter the problem is in the central fuse box or in the wiring between the battery and the fusebox. Before taking the box apart, I want to be sure that the box is the problem. But since my natural talent for reading wiring diagrams isn't totally perfect, I have a couple of questions for someone that has. http://img8.picsplace.to/img8/6/f26.jpg the picture is from http://www.carsoft.ru/avtorepair/sierra/powerwind2.pdf What does the numbers 15 and 9 refer to? Are they the numbers on the contact that goes to the central fusebox? |
