Title: Radio codes
Post by Wafoo on Jan 5th, 2006, 3:11pm
Slight problem (or i'm being really dense) probably the latter!
My radio display is dead,all works,backlight on but no display,had a read of previous problems and it says it's moisture,ok thought I'd take it all out and leave it in the house overnight,problem is my radio code starts with a 7 according to the little card that came with the car,the keypad only goes up to 6,so what do I do?

More woes!
disconnected the battery,forgot my radio display was not working,now no radio,assume it's asking for the code
can anyone tell me the exact method of  inputting the code,i've tried guessing the numbers by the number of clicks on the keypad but when i press 5 nothing happens,its a 7000 unit

If you read the article(turn your screen sideways !) it does say that after three attempts you have to wait 30 mins and after 10 unsuccessful attempts you're stuffed. If you have no display that clearly doesn't help !!. Only you know how many times you've tried. Have you tried to clean the contacts on the radio to see if that helps? and have you tried inputting the code as Snoopy said in his first post?.

tried all that,only had two attempts so far,tried the way it says in the manual still no joy,cleaned the contacts still blank,is it easy to get the whole unit out of the car without the Ford tool,if I can get it out can leave the whole thing in the house to try and dry out

it sounds as if your radio has locked out so you will have to wait for the 30 minutes with it switched on for it to start flashing the digits again. To remove the radio i used to use 4 pop rivots but nails or similar will do the job best of luck malcolm

You can buy the radio removal tool from Halfords , quite cheaply these days... Simmo ! If  using Adobe reader it is possible to rotate the text on the screen to read correctly...ie the right way round!  }{

thanks guys,got it out using the rounded end allen keys,popped out easy enougth  so leaving it in the airing cupboard for a few days to see if that brings the display back.

If it doesn't want to come out, then you should try a bigger hammer  ;D. Almoust tried that on mine and still coulden't get it off, i think the ex-owner did a practical joke and glued it to the dashboard  :P

Still no joy,been in the house all yesterday and put it back in the car today,still no display,anyone any idea what might fix it or is it a new 7000 unit required,see some people have fixed it by replacing the security panel but don't want to pay for one of those if it's not going to fix it,getting mighty fed up with this car,if it's not one thing it's another!
Had six months no problems now getting a different problem every day. :(

If it lits up but theres no display it could be that the conctor behind the display is "not connecting" annymore. Try gently to slide the display up and down, left and right .....but verry slow and easy and see if the display blinks a character or something.
