Title: Windscreen Washer
Post by fastflyer99 on Jan 10th, 2006, 2:29pm
Windscreen washer has failed!  Pump whirrs, not a drop out of the nozzles and level in bottle not going down.

Probably fairly straightforward - is there a filter in the system that might be blocked?  They've never been brilliant in the 6 months I've owned the car...

no filters to my knowledge, only thing i can suggest is to check the pipe between washer bottle and jets isn't blocked,if thats ok,must be the jets blocked, could trying cleaning with a very thin needle or something similar,or replacing the jets, but they cost about £15.00 each as they are heated as well....

Get under the bonnet  and  disconnect  the  water feed pipe   from the washer jets,   if   still no water   appears   then  it's   probably  a new  leccy  pump  ( or  one from a scrappy ).  God knows how you get  access to the  washer resevoir/pump     unit,  the information    will  be   on   the  site somewhere.

Look at this post from last year. System can clog up if washing up liquid is mixed with screen cleaner.http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Problems;action=display;num=1108322351;start=6#6.

It's the nozzles that are blocked.  I've managed to blow one of the holes clear, but unless I can find something small enough to clear the others out, looks like I'll need some replacements...

Thanks for your help.

A  single strand of  copper wire  from an old  electrical  flex should be    thin  enough  to  clear  the  nozzle.
