Has anyone used Denso PK20PR11 plugs in their 2.9 24v Cosworth's. After a bit of research they do cross reference with Motorcraft AGPR22PPJ and NGK PFR6B-11. They are also alot more affordable, but maybe the heat range is the difference. On the NGK the 6 relates to the heat range, on the Denso 9 being the hottest to 37 the coldest, so 20 would be mid range. Any thoughts appreciated.

I'd use the motorcraft unless absolutely certain others are exact match.
Seen damage caused to engines through wrong plugs - more costly than a set of plugs!!

I found that someone had put in the wrong spark plugs in my replacement 24v engine, they used some cheap Champion plugs designed for the Sierra 2.9 engine (thanks HowieD who provided that answer).

I went with the NGK platinum plugs as I used to run a very powerful Trans Am GTA with the Corvette L98 engine, this used to eat spark plugs but I always found NGK to be the best in terms of reliability and endurance.

I too always use NGK. I used to race stock cars using pinto's a few years back and tried all the different plugs. NGK was by far the most reliable.

Here's a short story, not really related but one to bear in mind possibly

I was recently given some freebie NOS motorcraft plugs to use in another well known old type of Ford that I run. To cut a long story short, I never actually fitted them but The guy who gave them to me had a job lot and fitted them to his same type of car of which he had 3. Needless to say one by one they started to break down ususally at the most inconveinent moments. Basically although they were the right type plug, what he'd forgotten all his old cars now run unleaded which we all know burns hotter than the old leaded. this consquently was killing his plugs. He changed the plugs to a more modern NGK type plug problems sorted.

Yeap NGK are pretty much reguarded as some of the best plugs you can get by most engine builders I know.
Some like splitfire will give you abit more power. ;)

The Cossie uses Edis which is a wasted spark system, which means the plugs fire twice as often as say a 2.9 12V for example for the same miles.
That's why they are platinum & costly :(

...I used the Splitfire plugs, both twin and four-prong type in my Trans Am and in my tuned Chevy Suburban (when I lived in the States), and for want of a better word found them all crap! They provided no power increase what-so-ever in my tuned engines and broke down far too quickly.

One of my engine builder buddies in the USA reckons they are just purely a marketing gimmick for the boy racers.

what about LPG ..that burns even hotter does nt it..should i check my sparks more often now or is there a set i must use!!! (2.3 ultima) :)

for the LPG, just close the gap to about 0.9mm.

::) I thought Splitfire would cause a bit of a stir ;D

Well I have seen some very small gains & a 12V seems to run a bit smoother with them fitted but they are nothing like Splitfire claim. I have not had any problems with them but I have not used them for about 5 years now as I stick with NGK plugs now which also give me gains.

I remember them getting into trouble a while ago about their claims & look what I found:
