Title: MOT failed Post by locky on Jan 14th, 2006, 4:18pm Not on anything too bad though. O/S/R + N/S/R brakes binding and brake pipes are corroded ::) Not being cluded up on brakes much, with the exception of changing pads & disks. Is there anything i can do to free up the calipers. could they just need cleaned? Getting the brakes pipes done next week, as i don't have the tools to do that. any advice welcome. |

Title: Re: MOT failed Post by mr._floppy on Jan 14th, 2006, 8:02pm Worst scenario is corroded caliper pistons and bores ( that's why the two yearly fluid change is imperative ) you could clean and reinstall them them but even with new bore seals they will eventually leak, replacement calipers are expensive especially the rear units . |

Title: Re: MOT failed Post by locky on Jan 14th, 2006, 9:42pm Ahh, that was what I was kinda thinking!!. I'm going to strip them down tomorrow and have a wee look. I changed the fluid about six months ago, and i've had a look through the rather large folder of service receipts but can't find one for the brake fluid ever being changed (strange, there's one for everthing else inc an autobox) ::) oh well, if it need's them..... Kidney anyone?? :D |

Title: Re: MOT failed Post by locky on Jan 19th, 2006, 11:56pm All is well ;D!! New brake pipes and 2 nice and shiney, brand new calipers fitted at the rear. Just for reference the Finnis Codes for the Calipers are 5021817 & 5021818. ;) |
