from stupid person.......
im about to change the oil in my 2.5TD, where is the sump plug?? is it male or female? ???

remove the under tray underneath the car,and hopefully the sump plug should be visible...in the sump.. ;)

right, had another look, i can see what looks like the sump pan just to the front of the axle with cooling fins along it? but no sign of the sump plug or this undertray thing........

sorry but if you cant spot the sump plug or the undertray are you sure you should be working on a car :o

no need to be sorry ricky.
i've done countless oil changes over the years, rebuilt the top end of a suzuki gsxr750, adjusted valves and shims etc.
the problem here is the light is bad, the car is on a flat surface and i can hardly get my head under it, and now it seems my trolly jack has packed up.

the under tray is a large plastic shield that sits underneath the engine, to stop oils/fluids from dripping onto the road/driveway. when you remove this (4 bolts) the sump plug should much easier to spot.

..........it is possible the undertray is not there, some lesser mechanics who may have worked on your car before your ownership, may not have refitted it after removal.

i think you're right Russ, there is no sign of an undertray, and from the angle im having to look at, no sign of the sump nut, and now its getting to dark and its started to snow :'(

at least i got the air and fuel filter changed, maybe tomorrow for the oil change........

male or female (like peugeot), so i know what type of plug im looking for.
found a part picture in the engine section (under removal section), they say to remove BOTH oil drain plugs......

Parargraph 7 gives you a picture of where the TWO drain plugs are located and the required tightness when re fitting.

indeed, i have found them, both of the female type, and difficult to access properly without raising the car to get a proper 'purchase' on them so as not to chew them. time for a new trolly jack.......
