can anyone help, a few weeks ago my 97 2.5tdgave up on me .no power ,loads of black smoke and a lot of rattling from engine.asked at a few garages and most said fuel starvation.had injectors cleaned,new filter fitted.car now starts and will run on tickover fine adn rev to limit for about 10 mins then problems start again.was told to try runing straight from a can to illiminate blockage between tank and filter, same result.told next job is to have pump checked,would like to have a go at getting pump off myself but could do with some instructions so could could do with some help please ant

hi ive come accross this problem on the transit. after weeks of trying differnt things and spending loads of doe the problem turned out to the injector leak off pipes, ford originally fitted the return to the pump on to no 1 injetor and and capped of no 4 or the other way round which causes the injector pump pressure to drop to arrond 1.5 bar when it should be arrond 7 bar changeing the leak of pipes round cures this problem hope this helps

looks like i have got to the cause of problem,a friend came round sunday to have a look.could not find any major broblems after giving once over.only coment was "oh" its got an egr fitted,have u checked it.my response whats an egr.he showed me what it wasand said try plugging vacume hose with a ball bearing,put back on and git a try.with hose blanked off car runs ok,still a little flat but running.took egr off today and found one gasket leaking.going to get new gasket but fit a blanking plate between to blank off completely and see how car runs.will let u know how it goes,thanks for trying to help ant.
