Hi there,
We have a scorpio ultima petrol 2.3 auto estate, which we LOVE!!!!
However just recently when we start it up, and put it into reverse to get out of our drive it cuts out and then when we try to restart it just turns over but does not spark up, as if its something to do with the immobiser?
We have only owned it 6 mths, and this has happened maybe 3 times now,
the last time was when I took my car to the hand carwash at work, left the engine running, then when finished got back in put it into reverse then it cut out, and wouldnt start so I left it at work, then the next day went to collect it, and it started no probs straight into reverse and no problems.

Can anyone shed any light on it??

does it only happen when it gets wet? is the battery cover fitted?

Hi it seems to happen with cold engine, and also if I remember it has happend twice when its been raining and once when I used the car wash.
I am also now having trouble getting my boot to open!
I thought things were going too well.............Liz

You need to answer Andrews question about the battery cover. Water anywhere near the fuseboxes or an ill fitting lid will cause all sorts of problems. As for the boot is the key worn or the lock itself. Do you have a remote and will that open it?

It has not got a bettery cover, so dont know if that is the cause of the problem?

If it isn't the cause of this problem,and from what you say it could be, it will certainly cause problems sooner or later.

Its going in for a service this wk so I will get them to check it out, and get a cover for the battery!
