See here for the details... http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/doorlockbld.htm. This is for the doorlock but the principle is the same for the ignition. HTH Thunderchild |

Title: Re: I can not turn key to start (2.5 Diesel) Post by Highlander on Feb 17th, 2006, 11:46am Got a spare key to try? Try wiggling it about, both the key and the steering wheel to reduce the steering lock pressure on it. it really helps if you can get it to position one to remove the ignition barrel |

Title: Re: I can not turn key to start (2.5 Diesel) Post by pustagris on Feb 17th, 2006, 4:02pm Thanks "Highlander" The wiggling did this time the trick. But the next time? Would it be advisable to use some thin oil (WM 40) or will this hurt some electrical functions? |

Title: Re: I can not turn key to start (2.5 Diesel) Post by Dave on Feb 17th, 2006, 4:07pm Shouldn't hurt any connections but probably won't do any good either. While it is working - change/rebuild the barrel! http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ignitionlock.htm As Highlander says it makes the job an awful lot easier if you can take the ignition barrel out for repair but turning it to position 1 - something that you can't do if it is stuck! |
