Title: Radio Code
Post by Penguin on Feb 20th, 2006, 5:19pm
Hi all

Is there any way of recovering the radio code (on a 7000 radio) without being ripped off to the tune of £28 by Ford?

Cheers

Have sent email address.  Thank you!

I imagine the software requires the serial number of the radio (as stamped on the side).

Could someone enlighten me as to how one pulls the radio out far enough so one could see the number?

do you have the 2 radio removal "keys"?....
if not,get a pair,if yes, push them into the locating lugs until you hear a click, wiggle them from side to side whilst pulling the radio out of the aperature, when radio is out far enough, read the number, then remove the "keys",fit radio back in,when you hear the clips lock,it's back in safely...

Thanks everyone for all your help - have now sorted it.

One thing strikes me though - if this coding software is so common and (if you don't have it) you can order the codes for a pound from eBay - what possible use was the keycode in terms of radio secruity? (Apart from a method for Ford to charge you thirty quid when you invevitably forgot what it was)?  :D

Absolutely none whatsoever. The only true way to stop people stealing things from cars is to cut their bloody hands off when they get caught; brutal but effective. I think we have exhausted every other soft and politically correct way of dealing with the scum, time we started to do it the right way

Woolly sort of liberal that I am, having lost a radio, a moped and and a car all in the last four years I find myself strangely drawn to Baz' justice...  ;)
