I'm having a little trouble with my master key - in terms of trying to programme a new key.

Could someone check I'm doing this correctly:

I inserted the master key into the car and turned it to position II. THe red LED came on immediately so I then turned off and removed the master key.

Now according to the website this LED is meant to go off and then come on for 2 seconds. This didn't happen - when the master was removed the PATS light went back to the norma "no keys inserted flash."

Now when I put the new key and turned it to "II" I rather than the LED coming on and going off I just got the "this key isn't recognised" flash.

I thought that my master key might have been damanged and lost it's own chip - but, no, that key will start the car - so what's going on - it's as if the master key has fogotten it's a master key and gone back to being a slave key.

Do I need to have the system re-programmed?

keep trying as per the handbook that is the correct way http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/handbook040.gif

May just have been a glitch
