Title: Autobox V6 12v
Post by Ultima_Stu on Feb 24th, 2006, 9:01pm
It's finally gone bang!

It's just passed 193k and I lost top (4th) gear on the motorway today, it 'kicked down' to 3rd with no provocation and that was that. Not long after the speedo fluctuated and gave up. I assume this is related although I have experienced other problems this week. The battery has been draining intermitantly over night. I have seen today the ignition lights come on and the LCD displays become live without a key in the ignition. I can hear a relay chattering behind the dash some where.

Not sure whats causing what.

I have a box from a MKIII Scorpio 12v - will it fit??

Do I just scrap the whole lot (box from Ford exchange £750+vat+fitting) - such a shame as the car is very tidy all round and not missed a beat having been 100% reliable to press.

Stu.

Have a look at the VSS (vehicle speed sensor):

Worth a look anyway!
