Title: Moving Cruise Control? Post by petersit on Feb 25th, 2006, 7:55am Has anyone tried to move CC to a Scorpio without this system? |

Title: Re: Moving Cruise Control? Post by scorpio_man on Feb 25th, 2006, 8:03am hi there we think it's a bit of a non-started because of the various sensors and wiring. even with a donor car next to it, it would be some work, imo. http://www.carsoft.ru/avtorepair/sierra/speedcon.pdf hth |

but as andrew states,a lot of work involved, impossible, probably not,but worth the effort. :-/ in my opinion,a brave man to try to move both the traction and cruise from 1 car to another.... |

Title: Re: Moving Cruise Control? Post by Geoff_W on Feb 25th, 2006, 9:32am As Andrew and Craig said, a big job when you factor in replacement steering wheel and all the bits, if you had a donor car alongside I guess you could do it, but a big project in any case. As an alternative look at a generic accessory fit system. Typically less work called for. Good luck |

Title: Re: Moving Cruise Control? Post by david_molloy on Feb 25th, 2006, 11:42pm Rather you than me. It could turn out been a monumental task. Would probably be easier to buy another car with it on and run that rather than trying to swap system over. |

Title: Re: Moving Cruise Control? Post by Paul B on Feb 26th, 2006, 8:14am Blimey, its a long time since this was discussed! But, discussed it was. And as the guys have already said, it was kind of decided it was too much effort. If you had another vehicle next to it with CC on it, it would almost be easier to swap all your bits onto that car instead.... possibly.... maybe :-/ Good luck. |

Title: Re: Moving Cruise Control? Post by mr._floppy on Feb 26th, 2006, 10:48am Was it just the Diesel option that didn't have CC ? Like the sunroof, I don't use the CC that much ( living in Perthshire there's not many Motorways ) but I do like it to be working. |

Title: Re: Moving Cruise Control? Post by Pursche on Feb 26th, 2006, 11:33am My -96 Cosworth Ghia have everything except CC, leather and the sensors if you want to park the car (dont remeber the english word). :-/ |

Title: Re: Moving Cruise Control? Post by Geoff_W on Feb 26th, 2006, 11:38am Peter Have a look at http://www.the12volt.com/ The cruise control section or forum may have alternatives that you could try. I still think an accessory fit system will be your best choice because they are designed to be straightforward retro fits. Worth exploring, cruise is definately one of my most used Ultima luxuries Good luck Geoff |

Title: Re: Moving Cruise Control? Post by petersit on Feb 26th, 2006, 11:59am Thanks Geoff_W I still have not given up moving the CC. (stupid me) I have an contact at Ford. He says that it should be a "possible project". Otherwise He must help me. IŽll start the project i a few weeks. Wish me luck. ;) |

Title: Re: Moving Cruise Control? Post by Geoff_W on Feb 26th, 2006, 12:14pm Well if you are determined, good luck! If you do have a go, consider taking piccies as you go at each stage. If you can do that, I am sure that a lot of folks would be keen to see how you managed it. If it does not work out you can always backtrack using the piccies. Hope that helps Geoff |

Title: Re: Moving Cruise Control? Post by scorpioking on Feb 28th, 2006, 11:39am I know this may be a bit off topic, but I read earlier that the diesel doesn't have Cruise control, can anyone confirm or deny this please, as I have an N reg diesel, and mine has the buttons on the steering wheel, but doesn't appear to work. Obviously, if it isn't fitted on the diesel, then I can't expect it to work ;D, but I had thought that there may be a problem with it, so was just about to investigate, when I read this topic. Thanks Pete |

Title: Re: Moving Cruise Control? Post by kskjon on Mar 1st, 2006, 12:33pm You could check if the CC-motor is fitted. There should be a second accelerator cable connected to the engine. (Atleast if the diesel-engines are half similar to the gasoline engines.) |
