greetings all scorpio lovers ,can some one out there help me?[I have a 1998 model 2.3 ghia scorpio a friend of mine told me it has the wrong front bumber on it ,he said that all 1998 models should have the vented bumper .The bumper was replaced by a ford main dealer about 14months ago ,could they get it wrong ?If anyone has an answer to this question please let me know so I can get my main dealer to change it ..thankyoui][/i]

Well it happens, I guess yours has the facelift rear end , headlamps and grille in which case you normally would have the facelft bumper.

If you paid to have it done I would take it back and ask the question, problem is best you can hope for it after this time may be a contribution to replacement and an applogy. Probably get a "it was that or wait 3 months for the new one because they are out of stock.

Matter of personal taste, it is not going to add pounds to the value unless it is immaculate.

You need to know exactly when the vehicle was built and then see if it had the revised Front bumper.

did you not notice if you bumper had vents or not before the repair? some did, some didnt.

any photos of front and rear of your car? it will help.

thanks for the info gentlemen ,The bumper and drivers headlight were repaired after an almost new BMW decided it wanted my petrol pump in a service station and reversed into me .The scorpio was made in december 1997first registered march 1998. Face lift front and rear lights grill etc.I am 98% sure it was a vented front bumper.I had only had the car for a couple of days when this happened and ford being ford with there first class spare parts network I didnt see it again for almost three and a half months because they could not locate the parts.But even after all this I love the car and have made it my mission to keep it on the road as long as I can .

couple of things to also consider here,just because the car was built lae 97,doesn't mean it will have all the facelift pieces on it,there are 98 scorpios about that look exactly the same as a 96 cosmetically.. :-/
there is also the point that at some point in time the bumper may have also been replaced before,both build wise,and when repairing ford did put on the car what ever was availiable at the time,yours "in theory" should have all the facelift bits and bobs,but certainly not guarenteed......

Plus just have a look at some pics and you'll see the "mods" people have done during the lifetime of the car, theres a lot of 95 cars out there with facelift lights and grills and probably vice versa.

And as Craig says, if someone has a cracked bumper/light/grill etc and suddenly finds a correct colour/wrong spec option then usually thats the easiest and cheapest solution ;D

mine hve the vents but it is 98 ultima cosworth i think the ghia was diffrent

just an up-date folks ,The man from ford got back to me ,it seems they have the build specs for scorpios on a data base some where and mine was the older type of bumper .But my main dealer has agreed to change my drivers side headlight because it seems for the last 14 months I have had a euro spec light not a UK spec . nice of them to tell me ,Thanks for all your help folks ..

yes ,the head light will not adjust the right way ,they have fitted a left hand drive head light in a right hand drive car ,
