Title: Re: 2.3 16v Post by tony on Feb 25th, 2006, 4:46pm If you're sure there is clutch and gears, then the only possibilities are the final drive from the gearbox, propshaft and rear axle. Checking underneath with someone else in the drivers seat - someone you trust implicitly :-) just in case, see if there is propshaft rotation when in gear and clutch released. If there is then it must be the rear axle that's at fault. Tony |

Title: Re: 2.3 16v Post by tony on Feb 25th, 2006, 7:32pm Then it's got to be a gearbox or a clutch fault - the next link in the chain so to speak. Can you move in any gear, including reverse? Does the clutch feel normal? If it does, then it's likely to be a failure in the gearbox, but difficult to say from a distance. |

Title: Re: 2.3 16v Post by Octavian_P on Feb 25th, 2006, 8:25pm Hi there A quick cluth check is to start the car, drive it at a low speed. Put it in 4th gear and floor it hard. If the cluth is worn out then the car will rev but it won't speed up. Cheers |

Title: Re: 2.3 16v Post by tony on Feb 25th, 2006, 8:32pm Thens it's likely to be the gearbox I fear :( Whereabouts are you, there'll probably be someone not too far away who can give you a definitive answer. |
