getting 24MPG at the moment ...it was 30 when I first got her....problem or normal?! lightweight boots fitted..... ???

First to start with is cleaning the MAF.

tyre pressures?

had a scan done? could be cat/sensor/fuel system problem

Different fuel used? On cars I drive (not just the Scorp) fuel consumption seems to be higher when it is very cold too!

Thanks for the tips..... I really need to brush up on my 'Ford speak'..... with this site i'm gradually learning all about MAF, OBD2, PCM, and i'm seriously thinking about getting a DLC to check the DTC's to see the state of the OGI's....(old girls internals) :-/

how is your engine temp normal-cold.1st sign of colder running engine is lower fuel figs.mine slipped down to low 22s now creeping up to 25 after 60 miles.thermostat had stuck open.

Funny you should mention that Stan..... I rather think that my thermostat has been 'sticky' for a long time....I didn't notice until it stuck closed a short while ago!..... boiling oil etc!...after replacement the heater works much better too....i'll see if the economy improves too.
I had not paid much attention to the temperature gauge before, it only went to halfway even when block was red hot..... and still sits at half scale pretty smartly.
