Friend of mine has a problem with his 2.3 P reg saloon, when he parks the car and locks up after a short delay the front side lights comes on and drains the battery.

Everything seems to be fine otherwise, running well battery cover is in place, it hasnt even got wet for weeks now. He has tried disconecting the light switch, but it has no effect. there is no obvious damage to the wiring that has been spotted.

Has anyone any idears please?

Sounds like either a light switch or earthing fault. As you have discounted the switch I would check all earth points and go from there I suppose.

Check the Front ashtray cigar socket is not shorting out, as this has happened a couple of times to people and that was the cause of the problem.
