Noticed a few times when we fill tank that theres a distinct fuel smell at the Rear o/s of the car around the cap.

Any ideas other than the cap is broken? Thought the 24v was supposed to have an all singing + dancing Evap system?

My 2.9 Estate had a similar problem. Only smelt when tank was full.
In the end I brought a new tank, but when fitting it found that the sender unit on the old tank was not fitted as tightly as it could have been and petrol was weeping through this when the tank was full. (Stains from around the sender unit gave me this opinion.)

As the tank was already off I fitted the new one in any case but I'm sure if I had just tightend the sender unit the problem would have been resolved.

There is a special tool to screw in/out the sender unit but a lump hammer and punch did the job for me.
