Title: Rolling(unstable) idle - SOS!
Post by OHC on Mar 13th, 2006, 7:57am
Hello:

I have a problem with rolling idle plus low MPG on my 2.0 DOHC 16V, manual, ACC. The tacho needle falls then rises. Then I turn ignition of then on the symptom passes away and won’t reappear till the next engine start or even for a couple days.

Here is the list of the things I’ve done to try to sort it:

1.      new battery
2.      new MAF
3.      new IACV
4.      new IAT
5.      new spark plugs
6.      new fuel filter
7.      injectors - cleaned
8.      throttle housing thoroughly cleaned
9.      EGR disabled
10.      vacuum leaks – no (or well it seems)
11.      ignition coils – changed for good ones – no avail!
12.      Fuel cut-off  loom – repaired with insulation tape, IACV plug - changed
13.      HO2S wiring and plug- checked

Unfortunately, I have no access to OBD scanner at the moment

Can it be fuel pump relay? ???

Any ideas, folks? Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
OHC

Are all of your air intake pipes secure? and has no small holes in them. Is your air filter uncloged from leaves ect. Normaly idle jump( hunting) is firstly checked for air leaks ect.
Hope this helps?
Derek.

Hello:

Thank you for advise! Three days ago I change the new IACV by the old one, having moved the ram a bit with a flat screwdriver. The simptom disappeared - perfect idle etc., but yesterday it reappeared, especialy when headlights, CC and wipers are on.

I feel it's IACV, or is it only a coincidence?

Best regards,
OHC

Maybe the IACV is sticking? Try moving the ram with the screwdriver again, see what happens.

Have a read of this  http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Problems;action=display;num=1141740711,in particular Scorpio mans advice. I thought I'd cured mine but a new gasket finally did the trick.
