when I switch the fan on only cold air comes out of windscreens and vents water temp gauge normal then goes strait to zero no hear. Any suggestgens :(

What engine and what diagnostics have you done so far? Does the gauge go up slowly as the engine warms up? Does it just drop straight to the bottom or go slowly? Have you checked that the radiator top hose is hot when the gauge drops?

Have you recently flushed the cooling system? Or did it just start doing it?
See my last posting on 'Cooling system'.

P.S. My temperature guage is a bit erratic for the first couple of miles but then it seems to sort itself out.....Must be the cold weather?

Depends what you mean by erratic! ;)

It's normal for the gauge to go up to the usual position and then drop most of the way back down before finally settling back where it should. This is simply because the engine only heats up part of the cooling system to begin with (faster warm up) - once it reaches operating temperature the thermostat will open and allow several litres of cold coolant from the radiator into the circuit, which is why the gauge then drops. Of course, the cold coolant mixes with the hot and the engine continues to heat both, so the gauge then quickly returns to normal. This is more noticeable if the thermostat opens and closes quickly rather than progressively. Wonder if that could be related to ballooning radiators???

When I say erratic, I mean it fluctuates slightly when cold. It used to be alot worse (it did it all the time), but that was when I was getting no heat.
An airlock (as I have learned from personal experience) can also make the temp gauge plummet.

As you must have guest this is my first time on the sight and can See that I diddernt give enough info . I'v got a 2-5 turbow deisel estate 1996
The temp goes to normel when on a run when I switch the fan on the temp gauge goes down and only cold air comes out I just done 76 miles and it never got hot once.
