Title: Park Position Sensor
Post by Mummra on Mar 22nd, 2006, 7:12pm
I have just replaced the rear bumper on my estate as the old one was in bits. My vehicle is fitted with the park position system and this requires me to drill holes in the new bumper in order to fit the sensors.

Has anybody else done this? Does anybody know the positions in the bumper for the sensors?

I have drilled the bumper to fit a reversing sensor system - but not the Ford one!

I used a hole saw to match the size of the sensors - put a bit of masking tape over the point you are going to drill and start as slow as you can. I found a battery powered drill was just right!

I have located the correct size hole saw, and I am ready to drill the holes. however due to the condition of my old bumper I am unable to measure the position the sensors were previously located and wasn't sure how critical positioning was for the sensors.

The best way to test the position is to tape them on the top of the bumper, roughly equally spaced apart and see how they detect the area. You can then place them in the correct location in the bumper. Like Daven mine are 'aftermarket', fitted to my estate, and that is how I sorted mine. The two outer ones want to be just on the outward curve of the bumper so they detect at a slight outward angle.Mine are 31cm and 61cm from the centre of the bumper (each side) and about 80mm from the top of the bumper. The other option is to check out another make of car,ie Rover75,and see where they are fitted.
