Title: Engine tickover
Post by caterex on Apr 1st, 2006, 3:24pm
With engine out, fitted new timeing, adjusters, guides etc.
I also had the head off.checked everthing for wear, everything was good, put all back togeather, engine run perfect, no problems in 3000mls, after a long journey I noticed a roughness on the nearside of the engine in the area of the cylinder head, I taught it might be the the cam followers, so I stripped off the rocker cover on that side, no obvious problems, prior to all this I had removed all the drive belts, the roughness was still there, put it and run engine, still there, also another problem, when I remove my foot off the accelator the revs hold at 2000 for about seven seconds and drops to tick over which is just about to peg out but continues in a faltering manner. I have cleaned the trottle body, checked all vaccumm hoses, and cleaned tha MAF meter. Can I disconnect the EGR valve to check for leaks, if so the best way to do it.
All help will be gratefully appriciated.

Sounds like you know too much about the car.
Ignorance is bliss.
Have you tried the coil packs & HT leads?
