Title: Damaged Rear Wheel Arches
Post by Ellogg on Apr 2nd, 2006, 10:15am
Alright

Had may Scorpio 2.3 ultima for nearly 4 years best thing I ever bought. I have noticed both rear wheel arches are starting to rust. It looks like the cause is the flange halfway around the arch is bent upwards. Now in the past and still now the rear end looks low could this have caused the damage, or is that the shape, and also I had new springs put on the rear a while ago should I have put shockies on as well.
Thanks fo you help

Nope it is a standard feature with the Ultima, rear wheel arches are the single most likely place to find rust on a scorp, its one of the genes it inherited from the Mk3 Granada. Out with the waxoyl and hammerite if it is not to bad for the inner arch.

Somebody once mentioned that they removed the door striker plate and sprayed into the panel as well.

Ultima ;Dtely you may have to get a new piece welded in.

How does the clearence look now?

Sorry for the delay

The clearance is greater on the front than the rear seems like the car is lower at the back as well. Any advice would be great

Thanks
