Title: Fuse Box-Schematics? Post by inlu on Apr 5th, 2006, 8:22am Hi, My right dipped beam is not working. fuse is OK so also the lamp and wiring. Seems to be a disconnection between the fuse and the big connector outside the fuse box. Does anyone know where I can find a schematic over the fuse box? It would be easier to understand than the box disassembled. |

Title: Re: Fuse Box-Schematics? Post by Geoff_W on Apr 5th, 2006, 10:20am Welcome In my case it was an earth failure. I guess that you have been working your way through this http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/electric.htm Here is a link to the site with electrical PDFs I know the link says Sierra but when you follow it it actually opens the Scorpio listing. http://www.carsoft.ru/avtorepair/sierra_el.html Hope that helps Geoff |

Title: Re: Fuse Box-Schematics? Post by inlu on Apr 5th, 2006, 10:35am Thanks Geoff, I have been through that. When I give 12V to the pin in the multiplug the lamp is working so the lamp, earth amd wiring is ok. I have found a lot of diagrams but none for the box itself. Ingvar |

Title: Re: Fuse Box-Schematics? Post by Geoff_W on Apr 5th, 2006, 10:41am Ok, I must admit I have not seen any schematics for the box, only the top map that you get in the handbook. You said that you suspect the connector my suspicion is that Ford did not expect people to service this item, but hopefully somebody will be along shortly that may know more. Geoff |

Title: Re: Fuse Box-Schematics? Post by Baz on Apr 5th, 2006, 4:00pm If you suspect a fuse box failure, first check that the multiplugs going into the bottom of the unit are all the way in (bit of an awkward b****r to reach up and under the dash inside the car) or check on ebay for a replacement. they do come up occasionally and would be easier than trying to dismantle and reassemble the only one you have. do the replacement and make sure it is all ok then swap it over. only a few hours downtime at most then Baz |

Title: Re: Fuse Box-Schematics? Post by sector-9 on Apr 5th, 2006, 9:23pm I'm sure you'll be doing it correctly already, but you are making sure that you 'hook' the multiplug into the C shaped lugs on the fusebox before using the metal clamp? The lugs are on the cable end of the multiplug - look closely and you'll see how they're supposed to go together. Reason I say so is because I got my Scorpio cheap simply because none of the front lights worked (even indicators, though strangely they did on hazard!). This was the exact mistake the owner had made and simply hooking the connector in cured it. It also made the plastic lid much easier to snap into place... Darren |
