Title: Car ramps Post by jonnycab on Apr 6th, 2006, 9:11pm Anyone know of a manufacturer that makes long ramps that you can drive a Scorpio up. The Scorpio will not drive up normal ramps due to the clearance of the front bumper. The trim hits the ramp before the wheels do. I've hunted high & low but cannot find any suitable. |

Title: Re: Car ramps Post by tony on Apr 6th, 2006, 9:51pm I'd be interested to know if there are any commercially available too. Not all of us have the facilities or equipment to make them, although I'm sure I could - I just cant justify the cost. Tony |

Title: Re: Car ramps Post by Baz on Apr 6th, 2006, 10:36pm I use normal ones but with a slight block of wood at the front of the ramp. It lifts the front wheels slightly meaning that the bumper does clear the ramps enough Baz |

Title: Re: Car ramps Post by jonnycab on Apr 6th, 2006, 10:47pm Hi there Baz...I assume the block of wood is a wedge shape so that when the wheel hits the ramp the bumper trim doesn't. |

Title: Re: Car ramps Post by sector-9 on Apr 7th, 2006, 1:53pm I've got a set of standard (I assume) ramps and my Scorp goes up them okay - perhaps there are variatons in the angle depending on who makes them... |

Title: Re: Car ramps Post by Dave on Apr 7th, 2006, 2:39pm I have been known to put a bit of carpet over the first rung of the ramp so when the car wheel goes onto the carpet it isn't actually pushing the ramp away. This also gives a slight height advantage! |

Title: Re: Car ramps Post by cossie_al on Apr 7th, 2006, 8:50pm Yep I made my own too but I copied a pattern off my mates ramps years ago and the scorpio goes up them no probs I found some old seat belts and buckles at a scrappie and wrapped the belt around the bottiom three rungs then it lies flat on the ground so the weight of the car stops the ramp pushing out. |

Title: Re: Car ramps Post by Tompion on Jul 20th, 2006, 11:00pm Mainly posting this to see if I've got photobucket sorted. I use paving blocks on the first 2 rungs & 1 in front to stop the trim hitting the ramp – fit my ramps a treat. There are 2 types of higher/longer ramps here: http://www.restorationramps.co.uk/ Dave http://i.imgur.com/ERIgvpD.jpg |

Title: Re: Car ramps Post by aleosa on Jul 21st, 2006, 12:13am Will it go up car ramps if you take the trim off the bottom of the bumper? I got the Halfrauds ramps but can't get Scorpio up and I am thinking of taking off the plastic trim under bumper but don't want to do if it won't go up as it is hassle. |

Title: Re: Car ramps Post by jonnycab on Jul 21st, 2006, 2:35am Good idea Tompion. I've got a few of those paving bricks hanging around. I will try it next time I need the front up :) |
