Hi'
I've recently bought a 1995 2ltr 16v estate, with 50,000 miles on the clock. Sometimes the box seems to go into sports mode of its own volition, speedo sticks at 30mph even when travelling at 60. This is the first auto car I've ever owned and would be glad of any pointers as to the problem. I've cleaned the MAF, thought this had cured it, but no, on occasions I'm still dsappearing over the horizon in a cloud of dust, I'm to old to be a boy racer.

Sounds like the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) or its wiring might need looking at, this will affect gearbox and speedo.

The VSS was my next step, will a 2.3 VSS do the job with my 2ltr?

Changed the VSS, what a difference, car is running smooth as silk now.
Thanks for all your help. Can't remember when I last felt so happy.
