Title: Inlet manifold gasket
Post by Daven on Apr 17th, 2006, 10:59am
Finally got round to fitting the new inlet manifold gasket as the old one had been slowly leaking water over the last year or so - this is what the old one looked like

What would have caused it to break like that?

Now have a DTC Code P0141 which is the Downstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater circuit fault - Bank No. 1
could that be to do with some thing I have disturbed?

I had to move the loom to get to the manifold - the cable is quite brittle in places, but I'm not sure which part could cause the DTC?

The car runs fine up to 50mph - but not tried any faster just yet!

The ECU is sensing that the HEGO sensor isn't drawing any current.  This could indicate it has failed internally or just that it isn't connected.  I've no idea which wires supply the heater in the sensor but it'd be a good idea to check all of them if you suspect a fault with the loom.

My 2.3 inlet manifold is cracked at fan sensor switch. I have repaired it with 'Quick steel' but it still has a very slight leak.
I suppose I will have to replace the whole manifold at some point.

Thanks Darren - I have had problems in the past with the loom as its the early cable type! Will check this first as I did a scan before the job and there were no error codes! Of course I may not have put all the connectors back as well - where is the sensor?

Jonnycab - looking at the gasket, I wonder how long I would have had before water started to get into the cylinders - may be worth doing it sooner rather than later!

Cheers

Dave
