Title: Re: Autobox Life Expectancy/ Clocking Post by Baz on Apr 17th, 2006, 6:26pm I guess honest John isn't then.....I had one Scorpio with 112,000 on when I sold it and I have one with 85,000 and another with 156,000....both boxes are sweet as a nut |

Title: Re: Autobox Life Expectancy/ Clocking Post by lonesomecajun on Apr 17th, 2006, 6:45pm I think we can safely say Honest John is talking through a hole in his backside. I myself have had 2 Scorps and both sailed past 150k with NO problems at all with the auto boxes. A few other things started popping (radiators spring to mind) |

Title: Re: Autobox Life Expectancy/ Clocking Post by david_molloy on Apr 17th, 2006, 10:57pm Just goes to show that if on net - not forced to be true. Have noticed many quotes / opinions / information on net are absolute garbage - honest J been an example. david |

Title: Re: Autobox Life Expectancy/ Clocking Post by jonnycab on Apr 17th, 2006, 11:22pm A fellow cabbie comrade of mine had 290,000 miles on a R reg 2.3 Auto facelift Scorpio estate (until he sold it). He had his own trusted mechanic, & as far as I know it still had the original autobox. Another fact that is not commonly known is that the A4LDE autobox is also fitted to alot of London black cabs & has proved to be a very strong autobox. |

Title: Re: Autobox Life Expectancy/ Clocking Post by sector-9 on Apr 18th, 2006, 10:09pm Just goes to show that, like anything, it all depends on how they're looked after. I think (dis?)honest john is thinking about another gearbox such as the CVT which was less robust...or another car (easy to clock? maybe the old Granadas or Sierras...) Darren |

Title: Re: Autobox Life Expectancy/ Clocking Post by Baw_Flinger on Apr 18th, 2006, 11:01pm Been given the very good advice that you should have oil/filter done every 50K or so, this will keep it sweet (in most cases). This came from a guy who kept a fleet of scorps on the road well past 200K on the origonal boxes. |
