Oil is light brown colour Engine oil level ok. Gearbox not so Car is a 2.3 97P Ultima Estate with 138k on it. What am I looking at here, what are the options, and what are the likely costs? Title: Re: Auto gearbox leaking? Post by km449 on Apr 22nd, 2006, 2:44pm Thanks for that. Is it a FMD job or can my local garage sort it? |

Title: Re: Auto gearbox leaking? Post by Dave on Apr 22nd, 2006, 2:50pm It should be a simple job for your local garage, there are 1 or 2 members on here that have actually done it themselves! It is not a big job - just be careful that you don't let the gearbox run too low on fluid otherwise it will suddenly become much more expensive ;) |

Title: Re: Auto gearbox leaking? Post by km449 on Apr 22nd, 2006, 4:09pm Thanks for that, will book it in on Monday. If I top the level up in the morning is it safe just to run about in it over the next few days until it goes in to the garage? |

Title: Re: Auto gearbox leaking? Post by Dave on Apr 22nd, 2006, 6:11pm How long is a piece of string? If it is just drips that are coming out and you keep an eye on the level then probably, yes. I would have a look at the state of the pipes before driving it any further though, just to check how bad they are :) HTH |
