Title: indicators no longer flash when locking the car
Post by Mummra on Apr 24th, 2006, 9:37pm
My indicators have suddenly stopped flashing when I Deadlock the car. It was working ok up until a couple of days ago and has now just stopped. It doesn't matter wether I lock it with the key fob or the door lock.

Anybody got any ideas?

You haven't disconnected the battery or had a very low charged battery have you? That is usually an option that is turned on or off by a ford dealer I believe

Baz, will you be able to do this mod when you figure out your new toy?

I haven't disconnected the battery recently, or had any problems with it. The only thing I have done to the car is replaced one of the front indicator lenses, as it had a large hole in it. Both the indicators and the hazards are working ok so I have no idea what has happened.

Supposedly Darren. It has come with about 30 different CDs, so I guess I may be able to. Need a bit more time yet. I intend to practice on my spare facelift scrapper for the first time next week!!

See what I can do to that!

Am I wrong in thinking that double locking with flashing indicators means that not only can the car not be opened from the inside, but also it is immobilised.
Would it be possible that the immobilser is not working?

The red LED on the top of the dash should tell you that. If it double locks it stays on for about 6 secs then goes to slow flash.

I have checked the LED this morning and it doesn't stay on when I double lock, but does start to flash.

Cheers

Well I manage to suss out the reason for the indicators not to flash. :)

The alarm will not arm if a door switch is not closed. All of the doors and boot show up on the dashboard if they are open, the bonnet however doesn't. So I checked the bonnet switch and it isn't working, I've replaced the switch and now the indicators flash again. 8)

Good result and well done for thinking of checking that!  Usually it's the simple/cheap things that break but the black boxes get the blame...
