Title: engine fans running all of the time Post by David_South_West on Apr 26th, 2006, 8:39pm the engine cooling fans on my 24v have started to run full all of the time ...changed engine temp sensor(the one with 2 wires)..well i plugged the new one in to the socket on wiring loom..no difference.Switching air con off makes no difference.i have checked big green relay and when engine not running and ignition is on the relays open and fans switch off. any ideas anyone. Another problem speed sensitive steering is light in the mornings when everything is cold but soon as car warms up becomes heavy even at parking speeds Thanks David |

Title: Re: engine fans running all of the time Post by sector-9 on Apr 26th, 2006, 9:37pm Unplug the air-con trinary switch - it's a three-pin connector in front of the 'radiator', near the LH headlamp. If that stops the fans then the fault is the switch or too much pressure in the air-con system (e.g overfilled). Darren |

Title: Re: engine fans running all of the time Post by sector-9 on Apr 27th, 2006, 12:06am You're absolutely right meg, that's why I told him to disconnect the trinary switch as it is this which switches the fans on at full speed if pressure too high - it also shuts off the compressor, and if the pressure is too low (but doesn't run the fans). Title: Re: engine fans running all of the time Post by WAYNE on Apr 29th, 2006, 6:59pm hi try checking wires from engine coolant temp switch for breakages by removing black sheathing carefully, then trace back towards waterpump.this hapened on my 24v and turned out to be a broken wire (green) which made fans run constantly.hth wayne |
