someon reversed into me and smashed the drivers side headlight. I have been told that this is this is the correct lens for my model a 1998 Scorpio Ghia x.

yes...
the bottom one is the unit,being a 98,in theory you should have the facelift lights (black surround,not silver),make sure you buy the correct one,as there are 2 (facelift=black plastic,pre facelift=silver plastic)......
is the other driver paying?,if not,they do come up for sale on ebay,there are a couple of guy's breaking cars here at the moment,or you could try trevor at fordparts.co.uk....

I cannot get onto fordparts.co.uk for some reason. But I have looked at the tutorial to change a lens. I noticed that the guy was changing to a facelift look. The plastic surround in my headlamp is undamaged could I not use that one if I can only get one with a silver surround or is too complicated to remove the silver one and replace with black

Just had a quick look on Ebay for you Johnboy.

There are quite a few Ultima Headlights for sale at the moment, so you may be able to save yourself a bob or two.

if i remember,yes you can seperate the glass,but it is a little "fiddly",and will need silicone to re-seal it properly etc.etc...IMHO,you really are better off replacing the whole lens,it's only 4 clips

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to answer my question. I did what Craig suggested and contacted trevor at Ford parts uk and they fixed me up with a new lens for my model. Total cost including vat and delivery charge £61. She now has two eyes and looks as good as ever. Cheers lads
