Title: A question Post by sector-9 on May 1st, 2006, 12:02am Does anybody know if the early diesel Scorpios ever had a fuel computer as an option? By early I mean the 115BHP engine with partial electronic control, not the whiz-bang full electronic control 125BHP one - just had a wild idea... ;) Darren |

Title: Re: A question Post by sector-9 on May 1st, 2006, 10:45pm Just trying to figure out what the ECU uses an input from the fuel-tank sender for. Only possible reason I could think of was fuel computer... Darren |

Title: Re: A question Post by mazzy_j on May 2nd, 2006, 12:58pm I had been wondering about the possibilty myself as i have a spare set of cossie clocks sitting in the boot... I remember someone asked this question ages ago when i first joined the site and someone replyed saying they had done it, but wouldn't reveal how >:( If you push and hold the trip computer button until it 'beeps', let go, and push the button again you can scroll through different readings including one where you can see how many litres of fuel are left in the tank. Maybe this is what it uses for. Matt |

Title: Re: A question Post by sector-9 on May 2nd, 2006, 7:54pm That'd make sense - I know that you can do the same (even on the base spec diesel) by holding in the mileage reset button for about 7s and then step through the list of sensor inputs, including remaining fuel in litres. However I think this fuel level thingy is calculated by the electronics on the back of the instrument cluster rather than the diesel ECU itself. Having said that, there's no reason why the ECU couldn't calculate it in a similar way to how the petrol ones do; it has all the inputs it needs... Darren |
