is a gear box oil cooler fitted as standard on ultima 2.9 12v auto
and if so were is it fitted in the bottom off the rad or as an extra

YES there is a oil box cooler fitted to the 12v Auto , its just below and infront of the AC heaty exchanger ( looks like a rad) you can see it hanging in this write up http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/radchange06.jpg

i thought it might have had one my old MK1 granny had one built in the rad
i was going to wait to i went to work tommorow and use the hoist in my yard to go under it
i still will as i have only had it a few days

The Scorpio also uses the front radiator to cool the oil as well as having the front oil cooler.

The oil cooler pipes are one thing to watch out for they are very exposed and can let go at any time.

Incidentally the diesel has the same cooler (despite being a manual!), but it is used for cooling engine oil rather than gearbox oil...
