Title: CD Magazine stuck in auto-changer
Post by Wild_Capt_Jack on May 8th, 2006, 6:44pm
Hi and HELP!!!

I have a 1997 TDi Ultima Estate which is fitted with a 7000 RDS radio/cd player.
Up until recently it worked perfectly. Then I after I had changed the cds in the magazine, when I tried to activate the player, I got the message "CD Error" on the LCD and the radio carried on playing.
I thought maybe I had put one in the magazine the wrong way round or something (not often done, but I have once or twice). Pushing the orange button normally pops the thing out, but this time, no joy! (Although it sounds as if its going to come and moves a gnats).
Consulting the book it suggested flicking the ignition on and off a few times and then trying again - no avail. I have also tried disconnecting and re-connecting the battery, but that doesn't work either.
Anyone got any bright suggestions, please? I really don't want to lose the cds as they were some good ones and a couple quite rare. Included among them was one that was burned off a computer. Could that have a bearing?

Thanks for any help offers - Mitch

hey

sounds like a cd has got stuck half way in the magazine and cd player, only way to fix it is to strip the changer down (it's an easy enough job),

but before you do, see if you can get something small down the side of the magazine and try and open one of the envelopes enough and press the orange button again, hopefully it will just eject it into an envelope

hope this helps
matt

Somebody else recently had problem with their changer which was caused by a bad earth - might be worth checking.
