Kev... not sure which model you have, but it makes little difference really. Even on the 24v it should only be a 10-15 minute job.

You really should be able to do that before you go see Quo.

Check out this page... Changing Drive Belts (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/drivebelt.htm)

Strangely Halfords  do  sell  'em,    for  under a tenner too  :-*

Easy peasy, take a mental note of the  way the belt is threaded  round all the pulleys,   take the tension off the old belt  by  putting a long spanner or a  socket on the  bolt  holding  the  tensioner  pulley on,  compress the spring by   levering it it  downwards    ( careful,   as  it's  a  powerful  spring,   an extra pair of hands  may be advisable  )  unhook the old belt and  position the new one.

VERY jealous of you going to QUO tomorrow!!

Don't even THINK about driving around with a dodgy belt. If it goes, you are quite likely to overheat your engine as the belt drives your water pump!

If you do, it could be VERY expensive!!

Enjoy the show. My wife and i have seen Quo about 20 times, and she is crazy about them!! If we were nearer, I'd even have offered you a lift!

Or another description of doing it....Draw a simple picture of the belt & the pulleys that it goes around.....Grab a 15mm (or 17mm) ring spanner & put it on the tensioner (centre) bolt & push down (clock-wise) hardish. This will slacklen the belt so you can get it off.
To fit the new belt....line up the belt with the pulleys, push the tensioner back down & slip the belt over the tensioner, let it up...& that's it.
P.S. Spannerdemon...I saw Quo on their farewell tour in '85 (i think, can't remember exact year) at Crystal Palace football ground. The tickets were a fortune!!!......A year later they re-formed & did it all again. I love the Quo but I wouldn't pay to see them again after that suppossed last ever chance to see them.

A quick snapshot on the mobile phone is a handy tool for remembering where everything goes ;)

Re Status Quo.

It seems rock bands just don't know when to call it a day,  The Stones still gigging  in their  sixties is desperate and, qute frankly,  money grabbing.
Same with my fave band The  Who,  even after the demise  of  Moon and Entwhistle,  the real  driving force of the band ,   they still  soldier on.  I'll stick to me  DVD's and CD's  and certainly  won't  be paying  £55   to see  them.

Rant over,    Good Morning. :o
